Farmall M front steering gear???

On a Farmall M with the tricycle frontend. I am trying to get the top gear off of the front steering shaft. This is the gear that works off the worm gear. It is on a splined shaft. I can get a prybar up under one side of it, but it won't budge. I haven't tried heat. That seems to be my only option. ANY HELP? Thanks, Duane in VA.
