Yep, they both have the same dry mechanical TA. As for the PTO, all I know is the 504 has one similiar to the one on our SMTA and I don't like the whine that comes from them when not running. I think they are the planetary style (not sure) and the 544 has a clutch. Our 544 power steering is the type that just has the hydraulic steering, there is no mechanical link between the steering wheel and tie rods. I don't know what front end could be put on a 504, I'm sure a Schwarz could be adapted to work. Without a loader you should be fine no matter what it has.
