It just depends on what you want to do to it. The 1206 is a dry sleeve engine. This guy just did a lot of measuring and checking. You may need to run John Deere rods and pistons or maybe Mack pistons with either John Deere or IH rods. Some pullers are willing to share some of their secrets and others are very tight lipped. If you are just staying in the modified farm classes then cranking the pump up along with the rpms will get you pretty good performance without too much investment. Depending on the pulling association there are all kinds of limits and restrictions on what you can do for a given class. For enough dollars there are machine shops that will custom make rods and pistons for you. It only takes money. But then the bigger you bore it out, the bigger the turbo you should have and then you get into the right set of tires to get all of this horsepower hooked up to the track. It just takes $$$$$$$$$$. Sorry that I am so vague. A different buddy is building a puller out of a 1466 and I was surfing the web helping him locate some pistons. I did find a site that custom makes pistons for like $100-150 per piston. Seems like they had about a 6 month waiting list. I don't have the website any more so would have to do a search again. Google or Yahoo have decent search engines. It is just a matter of coming up with the right keywords and scanning through the results list. Good luck.
