Got it home Saturday, got it loose that afternoon by prying on the ring gear, and running on Sunday! I rigged it together with parts from a spare distributor, spark plug wires from my pickup, an old 3-wheeler gas tank, and 2 batteries (6v for ignition, 12v for starter). It smokes a lot since the rings are stuck, and still not much compression, but getting better the more it runs. I need some parts though: Any idea where a guy can get a new ring gear? Will the flywheel/clutch from a WD-9 fit a W-9? I have a couple of parts WD-9's for parts. I also need a better carburetor, the choke is rusted tight in mine, or any idea how to get it apart? Thanks!
The W-9 as found.
Taken apart on Saturday night. Lots of rust in the block and radiator.
The garage after having it running for about a minute!
Another shot of the smoke screen. Note that these pics were taken about 5 minutes after the tractor was shut off, and there was a strong wind too!
