H engine is making noise

I took my H to a tractor show and pull last weekend, I did pretty well with the pulling.I didn't win the class or anything but the 3500 pound class is very competitive here in Arizona. I did put up a respectable showing at least.
After I was done with the pulls,I went out to the plow area and hooked up to a couple different types of disks and drug them around for a while. After I finished playing with the disks, I started idleing along in 3rd gear about back to the show area, when my engine gave 2 loud pops thru the exhaust and as I reached down to kill the engine it started the awfulest banging inside the engine. The water temp and oil pressure were good just befor the noise started.
Today I pulled the valve cover, thinking that I had probably broken a valve spring or lost the keepers on one valve. I found everything normal looking on the top end. The oil pressure is still very good. I only started the engine long enough to check the oil pressure after the noise started.
I haven't pulled the oil pan to see the bottom end yet. If it was a bearing I'd expect to see little if any oil pressure.
This engine was overhauled about a year ago and has maybe 100 hrs since.
So what do you think I'll find when I tear into it?
This really has made me sick thinking of what is wrong in side the engine.

Today's Featured Article - Box Plow Blues - by Tom Schwarz. One of the first implements most tractor owners obtain is the box plow. For very little money, this piece of equipment promises to plow and flatten any hill or vale on your ranch road or farm. At least that's what I thought! As simple as a box plow appears, it can be rather challenging to make work correctly. In our sandy soils of Florida, traction is king. You can never have wide enough tires or heavy enough weights to get all the traction you want … unless you own a monster tractor. U ... [Read Article]
