I rebuilt mine last year and it wasn't that much of a job if you have a way to handle the parts. I got a bebuilt ramp and roller setup for about $110 and I didn't need a new clutch disc. I built a frame stands similar to what is shown in the IT manual and also the Blue Ribbon IH manuel. I built the stands from an onld front mount ccorn cultivator I was given. I also built a stand for the rear section with a wheel. If you have a cement floor to work on and can secure a 3 ton floor jack for the rear that will work too. You chain it around the tractor so it doesn't slip off. If you have a tricycle front you have to keep it from tipping over so that is why the A frame. I split the back section off with the front part as I was at first just going to change the pto coupler replacing the seasonal disconnect. I used 5/8 bolts with the heads cut off to line up the back and 3/4 on the front. If you follow instructions as in the books you can do it. I would also reccommend a parts book as it shows how to put things back together. I have also done a lot of mechanic work on various tractors but never this job before. Be sure to keep parts and bolts separated (an old muffin tin works good for small parts and bolts) so everything goes back in the right place. If in doubt make a diagram as you go. I used a front end loader to take the center section out then put it on a table to work on. While you have it apart it is a good time to check the engine clutch, piolet bearing and rear main seal also. I got some seals for the case from Napa but the cross reference was not quite the same as the IH part so I would recommend getting seals and gaskets from them. I can't remember exactly who I ordered the rebuilt ramp and roller setup from, possibly steel wheel ranch, but they also had a seal kit and you could get a sprague type convesion setup with madified carrier. Regardless if you do a rebuilt ta or fix yours it is about the same amount of work. Good luck. I am really glad I fixed it as I used it a lot this year.

Today's Featured Article - Choosin, Mounting and Using a Bush Hog Type Mower - by Francis Robinson. Looking around at my new neighbors, most of whom are city raised and have recently acquired their first mini-farms of five to fifteen acres and also from reading questions ask at various discussion sites on the web it is frighteningly apparent that a great many guys (and a few gals) are learning by trial and error and mostly error how to use a very dangerous piece of farm equipment. It is also very apparent that these folks are getting a lot of very poor and often very dangerous advice fro ... [Read Article]
