Was just looking at my 150 Years of IH book by CH Wendel. Had a quesion couple days back on same engine. P-30 seem to have the same production as the tractors. The P-30 was followed by the U-10. Wendel states the following of the U-10. Identical in basic specifications to the P-30 engine, the International U-10 power unit shown here featured a full hood and other streamlined features not found on the P-30. Regular equipment included a flyball governor, oil filter, gasoline manifold, and IHC high tension magneto. Between 1938 and 1942, only 738 of the U-10 engines were built. It seems according to Wendel in 1938 P series engines were replaced by U series with the exception of the P-12, 1935-1940. P-20 became U-7 and as stated earlier P-30 became U-10 The larger diesels did not become part of the U series until 41 with letter series grills and hoods. The U-7 and U-10 have hood and grill of W-20 and W-30 tractors. There is nothing stating when P series engine was introduced, other than P-12 in 1935.

Jon's Allis has a small front loader and though it doesn't carry much, it serves his needs. It was the hard starting and low power that made him think it was time to replace the old girl. Jon called me to help him discover why his tractor wouldn't start
