I have to agree with puller- everything lies in the operator. ANY implement can be deadly if the operator is not using their head.

In general, harvest season is probably the worst as far as injuries. Us farmers are working LONG LONG days (the only reason i'm on the 'puter right now is that the field's too wet). We get tired and are always in a rush, two of the biggest factors in safety. Thus, accidents are extremely prone to happen. And also given the nature of the equipment, it is a very hazardous time. Augers, raised wagon boxes, plugged snapping rolls, cutting corners and trying to grease and gas machines while they are running when there are lots of belts and chains movings, and all sorts of other freak things are causes for injury this time of year.

I must take this opportunity to say this, and I can not stress it enough: WATCH YOURSELF AND BE CAREFUL!!! Every machine is safe, as long as it has a safe operator. And when the operator starts cutting corners, problems WILL arise. When you are in a rush, slow down, and when you're tired, be all the more aware of all possible mistakes you can make and be extra sure to avoid them!
