I wouldn't worry a lot about the dipstick, I think you will find they will grind up quite easily, without doing damage. I think they are designed that way. I lost a piece of one in a Farmall and also 1 in a Deere power shift. Never saw them again. Deere went 14,000 hours to rebuild and as far as I know Farmall is probably still going and likely 20,000 hours or more.
