A Super M engine will have the "C264" cast into the block in letters about 1/2 inch high. Will be high on the right side of the block toward the rear (above the oil filter canister). An M will have "C248", or perhaps nothing cast here. Additionally a Super M will have and X, Y or possibly a Z as the last digit in the date codes on the major castings (block, transmission, axle housings, etc.) Date codes earlier in the alphabet indicate a '51 or older tractor - i.e. a regular M.
