W4 wiring diagram for light switch

Just so I don't get things screwed up, I would like someone to send me a diagram for the wiring that goes into the light switch. My switch has the high and low charge rate. Obviously, it has the cutout and not a regulator. Does it really matter if you hook up the battery with a positive or negative ground?? I was told it didn't at a local repair shop, thought it was hard to believe!!
