the 264 and 281 blocks came after the 247 block!
probably not considered replacement!! because they were newer models. they could have been swapped. the 264 block started in the super (m)s
1952. only in tractor pulling would some one complain !!! if they only new the base difference!! the 264 block was 264cid, 4" pistons
the 247 block was 3-7/8 and there was an upgrade to 264, i reckommend grinding the number 264 of the block !!! and say you changed it !! or ask where it says in the rule book why a 264 block in your m can't be used !!! i'm in the process of building a 1946 (m) probably going to use a 264 block!!!! but i'm going to grind the numbers off and have a tag made with my last name on it !!!
