Yes there is a different compression on the newer motors. There was an IH service bulletin that said what oh kits to order, can't remember what it was but it basically said to use the later overhaul kits. I think a kit from a 3088,3288. The starting cable on a 756 was standard from the factory. There were quite a few differences in fuel pumps so some had it and others didn't. I would never oh one without the updated sleeves and pistons in it. Very big difference in starting.
