What RB means is to hit the axel itself. Be sure to hit on top of the axel (downward). We have done several this way ourselves and it always worked for us. When tightening the wedges we also hit the axel, the vibration will loosen the wedge. Keep doing this until tight and you won't have to worry about them coming loose. BTW, use a big hammer (sledge) and don't be afraid to hit it hard.
