93 octane is the old "regular" gas. It was purely a research method number. It is about on par with todays 87 octane. The 87 octane of today is supposed to be the average of Research and Motor methods. Remember when the old premium was 100 octane? That is about equal to todays 93 to 95 octane. Hugh: in theory, regular.. or low octane fuels... will start easier in the winter than the higher octane fuels. The lower octane fuels ignite easier and burn more quickly. If your tractor starts easier in the winter with premium, it may be do to timing or some other issues.
