Farmall 656 questions

I recently purchased a 1966 656 LP gas model with wide front, TA, 5spd, 3pt to complement my 41 H. I have a few questions about the operation of the 656. 1) I have read much about the TA, and know not to let it free wheel, etc, Question: can you shift it from Hi to low, or Low to high while you are moving (without pressing the clutch pedal), or do you need to stop the tractor, clutch it, and then shift the lever from one position to the next? 2) MY serial number is 22002 -S. It appears to be a factory LP set up, but I'm not sure. I would like to convert the tractor to gasoline (propane is over $2.00 per gal delivered when you can get the local gas co to actually deliver it). Besides the obvious parts that I need (carb, modify tank, air cleaner, change timing, etc) is there anything engine related that would prevent me from doing this successfuly? I am concerned that maybe the head or pistons might be different between the two and cause me a compression issue. Any thoughts on this? 3) Hydrolic filter: I have a service manual (one of the old ones) that shows that I have to pull the pump completely out of the tractor to change the filter. Is this right? or is there an inspection plate somewhere so you can get to the filter easier. The tractor is 100 miles away at this time, and I plan on going up and working on it this weekend. Need to completely rewire the thing so It will start and run without using jumper wires to get power to the coil. Thanks, Harry
