I farmed most of my life, forget the engine on baler. Engines that only get used 2 weeks out of every year usually turn out being a damn nuisance. Had a neighbour years ago had about 40 acres hay land and a Farmall SA always did loose hay with hay-loader. He called every dealer around told them he would buy their pto driven baler if he could run it with SA. New Holland was the only baler SA would productively bale hay with. New Holland dealer purposly took him a model 68 with rollers on plunger. That is a quite big baler. He baled hay with the SA and NH baler for about 5 years at which point he decided he needed a second tractor. He bought tractor with live pto. Yes you can bale hay with that H and a pto baler. Go for the New Holland and get one with the super sweep pickup, it will feed more uniformly. The key to your success will be your ability to rake nice uniform windrows. And don't go for the light NH, it wont have rollers on plunger. Another guy who responded I think from Oregon said a lot of New Hollands around. It is so simple New Holland made the best square baler going. They ran easy, were hay hogs and tied better. And get a manual, New Holland in the 60s and 70s printed the best trouble shooting manual in the business.
