My 230 grinds all the time if its revving too much. Try backing the rpm's down and it should help. I took my tranny cover off for another reason and the gears looked as good as the good used ones I had bought so I left it alone. Hot or cold, engine warm or cold seems to make no difference. Sometimes you have to feel it in sometimes.
