766/1566 all started with the same basic castings and frame rails in diesels, this includes front bolster, clutch housing, rear frame, the parts that were hung on like engine in 766 was demensionally smaller than the rest of the 966 & up, hitchs were CAT II on 966 down, CAT III on 1066 up, however 1066 had a 2" shorter lift arm length and a lower main hydraulic relief PSI, also 15 had planetary axles on same rear frame casting that was originally made on the 806. I worked in parts at IH dealer for 34 years in the high times of the 60/70s, It gets a lot more complicated in details but thats a basic idea.
