If this pasture is smooth and has a good sod, I wouldn't do any of what you or others suggest. I would just mow it and get a soil test for now, and keep mowed so nothing goes to seed. A year from now when you have it growing well, take a look at species. With about 4 inches lush green growth that is time to hit it with roundup and do your process if weed are presisting. You will be surprised that you may no longer have many weeds to kill. No point in throwing big money at a small problem.
