My Super-A once acted like you're describing. I put new brushes in it, cleaned the armature, and now it spins at one million RPM! If you have to replace anything, do both the ring gear and starter drive. If one is bad, it will wear out the other. Don't use sandpaper to clean the armature. Bits of sand will get imbedded in the copper. Use emery cloth. And by the way, the money will keep going out. Grin and bear it. (just keep the wife from finding out just how much its costing!)
