I guess you are talking about the fan hub to which the fan is attached and that has the pulleys on it and a bearing inside. It has a screw plug to add oil. If this has been taken apart, there is an oil slinger inside that must be installed correctly. If put in backwards, oil will not circulate properly and the bearing will seize up. Also it does not take much oil. You put oil in through the hole where the screw is. then turn the fill hole down and let the excess drain. There is a little stand pipe in there to make it retain the correct amount. If in decent condition and all is assembled correctly and the oil level is correct, oil should not come out. Grease is suggested below. I don't think that will work, as the sleever bearing is not designed for grease. It's designed so that when turning, oil circulates through the bearing. Aftermarket replacement fan assemblies that have permanently lubricated ball bearings are available if you want to go that route. The original sleeve bearing will last and last if properly maintained. It'll still be going long after the "permanent" ball bearing with no way to renew the lubricant is gone.
