Blue smoke does NOT indicate too much gas, black smoke would be too much gas. Blue smoke is oil burning off.

As for the blue smoke, 2 hours on the motor is not long enough to have the rings even BEGIN to seat. I have 25 hours on my rebuild and it is still not fully broke in. I still get a puff of blue smoke when starting for about the first 20 to 30 seconds. These engines will always have that puff of smoke on start up because there are no valve seals.

If you don't have anything to pull to break your tractor in, drive in road gear slowly and accelerate, then slow down again. That will apply a load to the engine and help to seat the rings.

And WHY does everyone change the oil so soon after rebuild? Do you guys put dirt in the engine when you rebuild it? I have 25 hours on mine and the oil is as clean as it was out of the barrel!! Read the owner's manual, I don't think it says change the oil every 2 hours on your new tractor!

And as far as the muffler is concerned, even the new CaseIH mufflers aren't very good when it comes to the paint burning off. They just don't make them like they used to, boys.

Just my opinions here folks, take them as you wish.
