12 volt system conversion

I converted my Super C to 12 volt when we restored it 5 years ago. I went to start it up this evening, getting ready for a road trip to another tractor get together this weekend and the thing wouldn't fire. I washed it all up last week after returning from Red Power. Turns out it was a slightly corroded connection from the distributor to the coil but what I don't like is the 12 volt battery sure has no reserve cranking ability. The battery is only a month old. It will turn over really fast for a few seconds then start winding down and first thing you know there is not enough left to start the tractor. One thing about the old 6volt systems was that if all the electrical components and the engine and valves and carburetor are in good shape the battery just has to turn the engine over once or twice and it starts. Not so with the 12volt tractor. The engine better start pretty quick or you are dead in the water!
