Hi Farmer Gene & Diesel Don: No answer at the 1-800-magnetos today. I guess I'll have to wait until Monday. Gene- That steel circle covering the impulse spring will not budge. I even bought a small 3-arm puller... but I was afraid to give it more than a few turns. Nothing is moving. Are you sure this isn't threaded on, also? I can't see the spring, only the two trip dogs. One side will snap back if pressed in, the opposite side doesn't act like it's got a spring on it at all. The impulse clicks when you rotate the lugs, but as far as I can tell... the spring does not move anything at all. There's no added rotation besides the movement you're making by turning it over with your hand. I don't have a way to test the condenser, but I replaced it with a new one 8 months ago. Hopefully it's still good. The secondary winding on the coil measures 2,500 ohms... I think it's O.K., but I don't have a coil tester. I have used emery cloth to clean the points (also new 8 months ago)and they are nice and shiny again. My old computer had the e-mail telling me what the point gap was... can anyone help me out here?? I forgot to measure it before I disassembled the unit. The rotor and the coil cap is good. I don't have any way of measuring how strong the magnets are, but they've been running the tractor for the past year O.K. Only recently have I lost spark. Please keep the help coming- I'm totally stumped on this impulse spring removal. Thanks,
