One of my first jobs working at a IH dealer in 1960 was hauling crates of parts to upgrade the rear frame in 460 & 560, it was a heavy wood crate, it had 2 bull gears, differential assys, 2 brake shafts, plus HD axle & brake shaft bearings, there was no interchange of parts between 460/560, except wheels, axles will not fit 460 from 560, outer size for wheel mount (2-3/4") on HD axle 460 option, 460 had smaller frame casting, axle housings, brakes, differential, than 560, 460 was a 6 cyl 300 rear frame, 560 was 6 cyl SMTA rear frame. As far as comparing to a Ford of that era they were still superior, sales proved that, also Ford recalled the whole tractor. Fords were cheaper, if you ever worked on them they were weird tractors.
