Maybe I am the one that is confused. I am going from memory and that is from 40-45 years ago. I never did have an MTA but power train is basicly the same as 400. I had the following tractors back in those days 300, 560D, 504 and 656D that were equiped with TA. 300 would have same basic design in power train as MTA only lighter. My dad bought the 300 new, I bought the rest. I remember dealer delivering a 5 gal pail of Hy-tran with tractor, and telling him to use it in hydraulic system and transmission. The 460-560 series was the first to use the transmission, rear end and TA chassis as hydraulic resovoir. You now have me wondering just what I read in which manuel. I do clearly remember using only Hy-tran in Farmall 300. You might check with CaseIH, to see if there is update on manuel. Not too long ago there was discussion on forum re: this very subject. I don't remember that as well as what I did 40 years ago. It is however, a wonder those guys are not all over one of us. Perhaps this long post will spur them on. Nothing better than a little contraversy to bring them alive.
