Sterring and brakes

Got on my 706 to go bushhog this morning and only had about half power sterring and ya had to pump the brakes to get anything but still very little petal . The fast hitch raised and lowered fine . Shut it down , give it a half hr. to get a good hy. fluid reading and it was fine . Thought I would pull the hy. filter but would pull it in the barn for some shade . When I started back up everything worked fine , bushhoged 3 hr. no problem or diferent noises . What happen ????
