Sounds like a good idea to me. On what I said about 6.2 diesel, it was Sat. pm and was greasing truck. I knew there was an oil mess on bottom of pan, just figured it was a main bearing seal leak. When greasing I noticed it was only on bottom of pan and not running down. Knew it was no use Sat pm to go shopping, next best thing see what is on hand in shop. Of several materials gasket black seemed best bet. It worked. JB WELD sounds good and if it works great, if not it is not a big loss on time or money.
