Ben, I see you've waited a while without an answer, so here's my $.02. The worm is not intended to be removed, but the bearing is easily replaced from the other end. Don't forget to clean up the area where the seal goes and replace the seal too. It is the most important seal on the tractor. It has to keep water out of the gear box which will quickly destroy it.
