I had a 300U pump crack like that, but it was because a stump collided with the oil pan... In any case, I got a new pump and that fixed the problem. I have no clue as to how many years it ran broken like that, but a few years ago it developed a knock, so i pulled the oil pan off, and the pump was busted! As for yours, if they are still in one piece, and not completely broken into two pieces, it should be an easy thing for an experienced welder to fix, and I say experienced because it IS cast iron.
