There is only one wire from the pull switch to the side of the mag. We're ok there. There is NO lightmeter response with the motor not turning over when I place the lightmeter on the side post of the magneto. There IS a minor and weak flickering lightmeter repsonse on the magneto side post when the switch is on and the motor is turning over. Points must be opening and closing. There IS a huge difference in lighmeter repsonse from placing it on the neg. batter post (bright) to the side post on the magneto (very weak light). Must be the drop in volts from 6V at the battery to some voltage amount at the magneto? or not? There is NO reading on the end of the wire from the pull switch - whether the switch is pulled on or off, or whether the motor is turning or not. What does that wire do? What purpose does it serve? Does it eventually to the condensor inside the magneto? I'll pull the dist. cap, remove the rotor, and remove the plate with the points on it in the morning and see how clean or dirty it is inside, and if the contacts are tight as you suggest. I wish I had a photo or diagram of how to overhaul or disassemble the magneto. I'm ignorant about what system I have. I knows it's 6V positive ground with a generator. The generator has a black box on top of it. I don't know whether it is a cutout or a regulator. How can I tell? I do have the lighting wiring diagram and can follow that diagram inside the light switch box to the ammeter etc. etc. Some of the nuts/screws are corroded and rusty. They need a cleaning too. I'll do as you suggest in the morning and post a reply and e-mail you my address. Several people use the e-mail address so I'll send it you. It is good to hear from you and get help. I am stumped and need to move forward because time is wasting. TYIA
