A new ring gear shouldn't be too expensive. Around $20 or so. IT is easy to replace, but you need to take the flywheel off the tractor. Use a flat punch and work around the flywheel. move the punch about 4 or 5 inches, working around the flywheel, each time you hit it. The ring gear will eventually drive off. When puttign the ring gear back on, heat it with a blow torch until it just starts to turn colors. Have the flywheel laying on the ground face up. use vise grips or simaler tool to pick up the ring gear and set it on the flywheel and give it a spin. ( Make sure the flywheel is clean in the area where the ring gear goes ) Spinning the ring gear will help cool it enough to make it shrink and grab the flywheel. OH, by the way, when taking the old ring gear off, make sure the flywheel is facing DOWN with a bolck of wood under it. I've replaced countless ring gears this way when I worked for an automotive machine shop. My boss (teacher) taught me how to do this and many other things while I worked there. It's real nice having someone who has done it for decades showing you tricks to doing things. I can repair cracks in blocks and fix things that most people now days would throw away. Good luck, Andy
