IH 484 Clutch

A friend of mine has an early 80's 484 utility tractor, for the 1st 15 years or so no problem. Twice in the last 4 yrs. the clutch has gone out. Now it is slipping again. The 1st repair was by an IH dealer, the 2nd repair was at a Ford dealer (don't ask why). Anyway the Ford dealer claimed the tractor was built in England & only inferior aftermarket parts were available & that he could expect it to be a re-occuring problem. Does anyone know if this is correct?
