Hey Farmall lovers,
I got to use my tractor this weekend and she purrs like a kitten!!
I bought this thing a couple weeks ago for $2250 (with a loader on it and a homemade rear scraper blade) and have asked for various advice and help on this forum. You guys helped me out so much!! Special thanks to Gene B for his expert help.
It appears that my 1951 C was one of the last produced (sn 79735) and the factory installed the Super C engine (123ci instead of the usual 113ci in most C's).
Over the past couple weeks I got all the fluids changed out. Replaced belts and hoses. Replaced the governor spring. Cleaned out the gas tank, sediment bowl and carb. Tightend bolts here and there. Powerwashed it and repainted it where it needed paint. (at this time I am not doing a restoration, need a work tractor)
Friday night I got her all back together. I nervously pulled out the choke, the ignition switch and then the starter - it immediately fired up! I let her warm up and then began checking for leaks. No leaks. I then throttled her up to see how the governor behaved. Solid as a rock! No hunting at all! I worked her about 5 hours on Saturday grading my driveway and hauling junk to my burn pit. Sunday I started tearing up some old concrete slabs with it. Never missed a beat. I have gonme from thinking I got screwed when I first bought the tractor to thinking I got a damn good deal.
I'm happy as a pig in shit!!
Thanks for all your help gentlemen!!!
