Steven: This problem of rusty fuel tanks on tractors that have sat for awhile, as I see it there is a high and a low budget solution. 1. High budget, you take it to a profesional cleaner and have lined with various coatings to prevent rust from happening again. 2. Low budget, run the tractor in field situations. After about four tanks full of gas, cleaning the carb as often and clearing stem from tank to bowl three times your problem is over. That is until you leave sit over winter 1/4 full of gas. You can leave it full of gas as I tried, gas goes stale and shelac is as bad as rust. I think the addition of an inline filter may be an option although I hate the look of them on an old tractor.I have decided that next time I store tractor over winter I will drain the carb, disconect line and seal, then fill tank with diesel. When diesel is drained in spring I can put it in furnace. Truth is using tractor regularly is what they were built for. Hugh
