Ouch! Does this one bring back MEMORIES!!!! My Dad had a 46 when I was little (mid sixties). It used to do the same things you talk about. Parts were worn (and hard to get even though dad worked at an IH dealer). The solution he came up with - someone would have the nasty job of riding the baler and give a holler when it did "it's thing". Give you four guesses who was elected (and three of them AREN'T my three older brothers). Since I was youngest - I got the job. I'd yell, dad would stop and hand tie the bale, throw the long one back into the front, trip the knotter, and continue on until the next time. This probably don't help you much (unless you have a willing 6 year old VICTIM handy), but wanted you to know you brought back nightmares of riding the baler.
