Last week while doing some tilling, my SC reved up real high. The throttle lever only lowered the RPM's a little when I pulled it all the way down. After I shut her down I found that the link where the push rod connects to the throttle shaft on the carb was spinning, apparently allowing the throttle to open far beyond normal. I pulled off the carb and got a rebuild kit. This is the first time I've rebuilt a carb, so I followed the instructions as best I could. I removed, cleaned and reset the idle adjust screw at 1 full turn off the base, but which one is the main adjusting needle? The diagram in the rebuild instructions looked like it was drawn in crayon. I put it back on the tractor but now it's a lot harder to start. It used to pop right off. Also, if I pull the throttle lever back the engine stalls... but at least it's not over reving any more. Any ideas what I did wrong? Did I not get the float reset correctly?
