Yours is a common problem with the A, Super A, etc. Check the nut under the steering box that holds on the steering arm to make sure it is tight. Sometimes the nut gets loose, or the key that keys the arm to the shaft gets worn. Also, check the steering shaft by pulling and pushing on the steering wheel. If the shaft has back and forth play, the ball thrust bearing on the end of the shaft may be worn, or the big plug in front of the steering box is loose. The big plug clamps the outer race of the thrust ball bearing to the steering box. If the worm shaft bearing is the culprit, it is easy to replace. Remove the big plug from the front of the steering box and then screw out the worm gear by turning the steering wheel while holding the front wheels from turning. You should be able to expose the bearing before the steering wheel hits the support. You will see the bearing, and a castle nut with cotter pin that holds the bearing on the shaft. Just take out the cotter pin, unscrew the castle nut and slip off the bearing and slide on a new bearing. (costs less than $10. When you reinstall the castle nut, make sure it is tight and clamps the bearing inner race against the shoulder on the shaft. Sometimes you need to install a washer under the castle nut, but make sure the washer contacts only the inner race of the bearing and nothing else. Also, check you ball joints on the tie rods to make sure they have minimal play. They are adjustable, but be careful, because they get worn oval and will bind when you make a sharp turn if you tighten them too much. If these items don't fix to your satisfaction, you will have to take off the steering box and rebuild the inside parts.
