cracked cylinder wall

I have a '49 H that had been sitting out for many years with no cover on the exhaust. We tried every trick in the book to free this engine with no luck, the #1 piston seemed to be welded to the sleeve with all the rust. We decided to bust the pistons out with a chisel and we cracked the actual cylinder wall on the #1 cylinder. It is a small hair-line crack about 1 inch long on the water jacket. If you take the cover off it's right there in front of you on the side of the cylinder. Can a good machine shop weld this back after the old sleeve is removed?
