The D-312 is a great motor and is part of the D-414 D-436 D-466 family just smaller. Since this engine had limited application primarily the 666, 686 and hydeo 70 it is a little more expensive to fix then it's larger brothers. The biggest problem with this or any wet sleve engine is that it can develop sleve pinholes, that allow coolant to get in the oil - Rebuild time. The rebuild will cost you $2,000 to $2,500 in parts - new sleves, bearings, gaskets, etc. If you keep that special additive or the special coolant you shouyld have no problems.
