I replaced that rope packing crap with double lip seals. After two attempts to use graphite packing, I threw in the towel and tossed the packing nuts in the trash. I used a Chicago Rawhide 18626 at the belt pulley shaft and a 11801 at the PTO. These are readily available at most auto parts stores. Simply have the packing housings machined to fit the seals. No more leaks period. Looks better also. Let me know if you need the machining dimensions.
