Fixed the wiring and lights on my recently acquired 1976 industrial version of a 574 hydro. This made me feel good! Now the idiot lite for the trans lube pressure is all the time. This makes me feel bad. Checked the sending unit by blowing a small amount of air through it - lite goes out. Put a gauge in the line - 0 pressure unless the pto is engaged then 15psi at idle 20psi max. Book says "40 psi nominal, 50psi max and 25psi at idle" Service manager at dealer said he has seen debris from parking brake lining plug the lube pump screen on this type of tractor. Parking brake seem to hold so there must be some lining left on it. Drained the generic lube (which was low on the dip stick) and changed filters. Fluid didn't look like it had too much water in it but it wasn't new either. Got 14.5 to 15 gallons of fluid out of it. Book says capacity is 18 gallons but how much stays in the cooler, lines etc? Filters had the IH logo on them instead of the Case-IH so who knows when they were last changed. Didn't notice any brake debris in fluid, filters or by sticking my finger up into the case. Hour meter shows 2900 hrs but we don't know if thats right. Idiot lite has probaly not worked for years. Ignorance is bliss! Do you guys think that by filling to the proper level with Hy Tran and new filters I will get the proper pressure or should I pull the multiple control valve off and poke around the lube pump before I refill the system? Or should I just quit torturing myself and disconnect the lite? Anybody out there with experience on these things? Thanks in advance. Vern

As simple as a box plow appears, it can be rather challenging to make work correctly. In our sandy soils of Florida, traction is king. You can never have wide enough tires or heavy enough weights to get all the traction you want … unless you own a monster tractor. U
