F-12 engine bearing availablity

I've been told that f-12 engine bearings for IHC blocks built before the 40,000 SN range are not available. Is this true??? I do see a change in part numbers for the cranks at that level but haven't heard much about it. The dip stick is supposed to be another way to tell SN range of a block. Thanks J
