Steve-O, I work in an auto repair shop and often stop into our local NAPA store for parts on the way to work. They have a display for Lucas products...a set of plastic gears running in a plastic see through box..the Lucas treated gear oil sticks better to the gears as you turn them than the untreated gear box..very convincing, it does give a stickier coating of oil ...much like STP or other products....is it good for old tractor Trannies..most likely it is...can it hurt..NOPE. However crank case additives are a different story, yes they help coat the moving parts , that's good..will it stop oil burning? ..Not!, it will not cure burnt valves or worn guides or broken\seized rings. so if you buy it for that you waste your money...if your application is running good and is not an oil burner then additives can give you extra protection and longer life...for that reason Lucas products are good. If you engine\tranny is old, worn and in need of restoration, there's no magic bottle of instant engine rebuild. Look at drag racers.. they spend a lot of lab time getting the right formula of oil for a run..some of these additives do this for us..good luck with your application ...MIKE in Exeter Ontario
