The only thing "magical" about IH Low Ash oil is the additives. All of the "multi wieght" oils don't have the same formulation of additives that IH Low Ash has. IH engineering(not Quaker State, Shell or some other oil co) tested IH engines with both the Brand X and IH Low Ash oil in them. Using IH Low Ash oil, it was noted that the engines burned cleaner and had fewer valve deposits and valve torching(due to the lower sulfated ash content of the IH oil) than Brand X. The Brand X oils don't have the lower ash content that IH Low Ash has.....DUH!!!!! So....Buy what ever you want. It all goes back to the OEM vs Brand X debate. Either stick with what the OEM recommends or pay later. Yes oil is oil, its the ADDITIVES that make the difference, not the price or Brand name.
