My Super A still deposits grit and debris in the sediment bowl, even though I've been meticulous about the gas that goes in it. It's been doing this for four years. I don't know what type of sediment bowl has to be replaced - mine is an old glass clean-out-and-reinstall type. I wish it were practical to install an in-line filter, but it would sort-of destroy the historic look of the tractor. If you want to clean an old tractor gas tank, remove it, drain it, wash it with soap and water, let it dry and reinstall. Then pre-filter the gas you
put in the tractor so it is positively clean. This can be as simple as mounting a large automotive fuel filter in the line of the can you're filling it with. If the tractor tank is quite rusty, there are coatings you can buy from JC Whitney and other sources to coat the tank. To prevent 'old gas' problems - for tractors you use rarely, use Stabil (or similar gas additives) and don't put more gas in the tractor than you can realistically use in a short amount of time.
