Because it rained hard all night, I spent the evening in my shop going over my recently aquired 39-"A." I plan to use it all summer & begin restoration this winter. In looking at the brake pedals, the right pedal looked a little skewed to the right. Upon closer examination I've found excessive wear on the horizontal rod the turns as the pedal is depressed. A previous owner must have used the right pedal to steer the tractor! Pedal is straight when at rest but as it is depressed the pedal leans badly...the worn rod allowing it to tip or lean. On the front of each break mechnanism where the pedal's cross shaft pivots there is a knub with a hole in it. Were these supposed to be grease fittings or perhaps oil ports. It appears that the lack of lube here has allowed this cross shaft to wear. That and 60 years! Does anyone know the purpose of these wholes. I have Sericeman's guide * IT Shop Manual but I can't find an Owner's Manual. Thanks.
