Hugh,

What happaned was that all of a sudden the steering on the 140 just quit steering. The guy was turning the steering wheel but the wheels didnt turn.

I guess it happaned so fast he didnt react fast enough and hit the truck. It wasnt the guys driving the 140 fault, just one of those things that happen. Course it didnt help that the brakes on one side dont work and the other side is wore out amd there was so much dirt in the clutch cover that the brake wouldnt even go back up after you pressed it.

The head Mexican at the farm said that it had actually happaned three other times and they had had it "fixed". I dont know what was "fixed" but someone didnt fix it right.

I took it to my tractor guy and we got the grill off and saw the radiator was leaking. I ordered a new radiator from YT, cost $399.00. Since its busy season Ill let the tractor guy work on it and just keep a check on what he does. Im better at supervising anyway. lol I think the tie rod can be straightened and if not Ill just get a new one. Its a work tractor so it doenst have to be as pretty as my Super A but I dont want it looking like junk either.

Thank goodness no one was standing there or they could have been squashed. Plus the guy driving the 140 could have been killed if the tractor had of flipped. Looking back at it now I know it could have been lots worse than a few thousand dollars of damage.

Today's Featured Article - Box Plow Blues - by Tom Schwarz. One of the first implements most tractor owners obtain is the box plow. For very little money, this piece of equipment promises to plow and flatten any hill or vale on your ranch road or farm. At least that's what I thought! As simple as a box plow appears, it can be rather challenging to make work correctly. In our sandy soils of Florida, traction is king. You can never have wide enough tires or heavy enough weights to get all the traction you want … unless you own a monster tractor. U ... [Read Article]
