That is probably for both, but not sure. My dr. has me taking an 81 mg. asprin daily. I also take Lipitor daily to reduce cholesterol. My cholesterol was not that high before my stroke. In fact I had just had my cholesterol checked and they had told me it was a 'little' high but not cause for alarm and to just watch my diet. A week later I had a stroke. The still cannot really pin mine down on any definite reason or risk factor that caused it. The scary part is reading that 50% will have another stroke within 5 years, and most will either be disabled or no longer with us. I try to look at it in the respect that that is probably the 50% that refuse to watch their diet, weight, take the medication, etc. That is the tough part I can tell you.
